Certified nursing assistants are also known as orderlies, nurse’s aides and patient care technicians. Certified nursing assistants are involved in direct patient care. Certified nursing assistant training includes both written work and clinical work. Students will have lecture class to learn the skills to master the written part of the certified nurse’s assistant test. Areas that will be taught include patient care, laboratory procedures, record keeping and basic nursing skills pertinent to a certified nursing aide. Students will also learn practical skills that will require hands on learning. Students will actually work with and perfect these skills on each other and actual patients. Students will learn skills such as taking the patient’s blood pressure, performing patient transfers correctly and correct feeding procedures.
Upon completion of certified nursing assistant training the candidate will have to take a certified nursing assistant exam. The exam has a written part and a clinical exam. The written part of the exam will consist of questions regarding the areas the student has learned in the actual classroom. The clinical part will be the hands on skills the candidate has learned during their hands on training. Upon passing this exam the candidate will receive the title of certified nursing assistant training.
The demand the certified nursing assistants is high. Certified nursing training includes both book and practical work. Upon completion of certified nursing assistant training the candidate can take their state exam and become a certified nursing assistant.
